Mary-Jane Araroa and Charissa Barham will lead the New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) Netball team in 2017 as head coach and assistant coach, respectively.

A former Silver Ferns squad member, Araroa was an assistant coach with the team in 2015 and 2016, and was most recently the assistant coach of the FAST5 Ferns who won the Fast5 Netball World Series.

She is a member of the High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) Coach Development Programme and is also a New Zealand Emerging Talent Selector.

Joining Araroa is Charissa Barham, a well-credentialed coach from Hastings who is also part of the HPSNZ Coach Development Programme.

Barham is currently a Coach Developer and Netball New Zealand (NNZ) Emerging Talent Selector, and has been actively coaching in the Netball Central Zone, particularly in Hawkes Bay, for a number of years. This is her first high performance appointment with NNZ.
