Silver Ferns to Celebrate With Fans in Downtown Auckland
Netball fans will have the chance to celebrate with the Silver Ferns in central Auckland next week, with Netball New Zealand hosting a free public event at Te Komititanga.
The "Meet The Silver Ferns" event, supported by Auckland Council Events, is a chance for the public to recognise what has been a standout year for the team, and to send them into their upcoming series in style. The event will run from 10am-12 noon on Saturday 17 October, the day before the team opens its WM New Zealand Netball Series with the first Constellation Cup match against the Australian Diamonds at Spark Arena.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet the players, get autographs and photos, and take part in interactive netball activities. The event will include a Q&A with Silver Ferns Head Coach Dame Noeline Taurua and captain Karin Burger.
"This group has made New Zealanders immensely proud with the way they have represented our country, both on and off the court. Saturday is a chance for our fans to meet them, celebrate what they’ve already achieved this year, and send them into the Constellation Cup with a bit of noise behind them," said Netball New Zealand Chief Executive Jennah Wootten.
"It's free, it's in the middle of the city, and thanks to Auckland Council Events, everyone is welcome. Bring your netball team, bring the kids, let’s make it a real occasion to kick start an awesome weekend ahead in Tamaki Makaurau”.
Silver Ferns captain Karin Burger says the team can’t wait to spend time with fans.
"It’s really special for us to get the opportunity to connect with our fans, it always gives us a big boost and we all love spending time with all our loyal supporters, giving back to them in a small way by celebrating together,” said Burger.
"It's been a big year and there's a lot still in front of us with the Constellation Cup and the series against the NZ Men later in the year. We’re looking forward to a little celebration on Saturday as we gear up for a big campaign.”
Thanks to ANZ, fans will be able to pick up a free poster on the day to be signed by the players. The fan event is free and open to everyone, with no registration required.
The Silver Ferns face the Australian Diamonds at Spark Arena on Sunday 18 October in the opening match of the 2026 Constellation Cup, before taking on the Net Blacks NZ Men's team in Hamilton in November, both part of the WM New Zealand Netball Series.
