U23 Concept

The Netball New Zealand (NNZ) U23 competition is an exciting new opportunity for our performance athletes with the aim of progressing athletes into the ANZ Championship and the NNZ High Performance Programme. This Zone based competition is now an integral part of NNZ's High Performance Pathway, therefore having a very important role to play in transitioning performance athletes into high performing athletes.
The objective by NNZ in establishing this new U23 competition is to provide a competition that bridges the gap between club / age group / secondary school level netball and leads performance athletes, and performance coaches, umpires and other officials towards the ANZ Championship.

U23 Philosophy

The philosophy of the Netball Northern Zone U23 programme is to identify and develop performance athletes who have the potential to succeed in high performance netball and to ensure that these athletes are equipped with the all-round skills that will enable them to transition successfully.
