MAGIC IN THE MAKING PURPOSE

  • Pathways ID and create a list for NNZ National Development Camp (NDC) with appropriate players to represent our zone
  • To give an opportunity to view Year 13 players that have potential to trial for SHNL
  • To create a depth chart with accurate information on players in our pathway
  • To develop and grow the depth and breadth of talent in our zone

MAGIC IN THE MAKING PROCESS

  1. Centre Pathways Spotter Identify and profile players, provide list to Zone Player Pathway Lead (PPL)
    Development by Centres running their own Representative programs and Player Development Programs (PDP)
  2. PPL and Zone Pathway spotters attend various tournaments to identify and profile players
  3. 105-110 players invited to a Waibop Magic in the Making Development session (1 of 3 offered at volunteer centres) plus 5 reserves at each
  4. Three Magic in the Making (MIM) Development sessions held with athlete education, fitness testing, specialist coaching and game play offered.
  5. Up to 30 players invited to MIM Advance camp for further athlete education, fitness testing, specialist coaching and fast five game play.
  6. Nominations sent into NNZ for National Development Camp (NDC) and/or players invited to SHNL trainings/trials

Player retention has provided a healthy foundation for defending champions Central Manawa to launch their 2024 Synergy Hair Netball League (NNL) campaign starting with their season-opener against the Comets in Auckland on Sunday.
