The purpose of 'Coaches Corner' is to keep coaches informed of Coach Development opportunities throughout the Zone. It is also our intention to post articles and snippets of information that may be of interest to you.
Coach Development opportunities include Netball New Zealand's accredited Coach Development Courses that are run throughout the year. These courses are facilitated by trained Netball New Zealand personnel.
Netball Central Zone are now managing the delivery of the Netball New Zealand coaching modules, and are pleased to advise the following modules will be held throughout the Wellington region as part of the formal Netball NZ Coach Development Framework.
The Community Coach Award is the second level of achievement on the Netball New Zealand Coach Accreditation Pathway. It requires the completion of five compulsory modules – Player Centred Coaching, Communicating & Managing Others, Planning, Skill Analysis and Team Building.
Follow the NNZ Coaching Pathway
Step 1: No Accreditation - Completion of Starting Out In Coaching, My Team & Me, and My Little Team and Me workshops. Coaches attend modules of their choice and interest.
Step 2: Community Coach Award - Compete 5 modules as required by NNZ within 2 years (5 modules to include: Player Centred Coaching, Skill Analysis, Team Building, Communication & Managing Others, and Planning). Currently coaching in any community. Regions send NNZ names of coaches who have completed 5 modules to then receive Community Coach Award certification. Coaches can also attend additional modules of their own choice and interest.
Step 3: Transition Phase - Currently coaching with a 2 year minimum experience. Coaches complete personal coach profile, ongoing development activities form the 5 modules and apply for entry into Performance Coach Award category. NNZ grant approval into Performance category and a $150 member fee paid to NNZ. Mentoring on offer from CoachForce or Netball New Zealand approved personnal.
Please view the attached PDF called "Transition Coach Performance Award" for further detail on this Netball New Zealand initiative.
Step 4: Performance Coach Award - Coaches complete personal coach profile. Completion of 5 Advanced modules. Satisfactory completion of coaching activities. Must be currently coaching.
Step 5: High Performance Coach Award - Coaches involved in NZAS coaching programme. Carded coaches. Coaching at High Performance level eg National teams, ANZ Championship.
